A loan of $175 helped to get more food and fish to sell.

Regina's story

Regina's group is comprised of hard-working women. Regina is 23 years old and lives in the town of Mukono in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children, 1 of whom is currently in school. For the past 2 years, Regina has been working hard to manage her fish vending business, which sells fish and matooke.

To help expand her business, Regina has requested a loan of 400000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. Regina will use this loan to get more food and fish to sell, allowing her to generate greater profits and helping her supply her basic needs from those profits. Regina hopes that in the future she will be able to increase her business.

Regina is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
