Segundo Octavio

Peru
Lambayeque, Peru / Animal Sales

A loan of $475 helped to purchase more animals and feed in order to supply his business. He will also make improvements to the corrals and will purchase ingredients in order to continue making chicha.

Segundo Octavio's story

Segundo is 34 years old, is married, and lives together with his wife and their two children in one of the outlying zones that are part of Lambayeque, an area of average commercial traffic situated twenty minutes from the city of Chiclayo.

He works raising and selling small animals in corrals located in the back of his home. He also prepares and sells chicha de jora (a typical Peruvian drink from the region prepared from a corn base) together with his wife. The income that they receive from these activities help them to pay their expenses and to help their young children get ahead.

Segundo is asking for a loan of 1200 nuevos soles (Peruvian currency) from Edpyme Alternativa, a Kiva field partner. He plans to use the loan to purchase more animals and feed in order to supply his business. He will also make improvements to the corrals and will purchase ingredients in order to continue making chicha. Thanks to this loan he will be able to make better income and move forward.

Segundo is very committed to his family. People who know him and his neighbors have great respect and esteem for him.
