Deysy Angela's story

Every fifteen days the communal bank, Bankito La Y, meets at the San Jacinto beach in Sucre Canton. This location is known for its beautiful beaches which are visited by many national and foreign tourists. It offers a diversity of lovely attractions and a rich variety of regional dishes.

This is where Deysy lives. She is 36, married and has two children, ages 18 and 16, who attend school. Her husband runs the family business.

She and her husband have a restaurant at their home which is located on the shore of the San Jacinto beach. Every day many people are attracted to the restaurant's delicious food. Deysy works daily preparing breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and menu items. Her specialty is seafood, the most popular dish among her customers. They have a paid employee who earns a weekly salary. The restaurant has been in business for ten years, and it has always gone well.

This loan will be used to buy rice, meat, fish and other groceries to make meals. She has been in the communal bank for five loan periods, and is happy that the loans have helped her geat ahead.

Her goal is to give her children a better education.
