A loan of $425 helped to buy compost and to pay to have his land plowed.

Julio Apolonio's story

Don Julio is from the region of La Cruz, Teustepe. He and his wife have five children, all of whom are married.

Julio has been growing corn and beans for 15 years. What he produces is sold in Mazorca for making “güirilas” (tortillas made from sweet corn) or roasted corn on the cob. He says that is able to sell for the best price. The land that he cultivates was given to him by the government for the planting he accomplishes with the help of an assistant and for the harvested crops that he sells in the same region.

Today Julio needs a loan so that he can buy compost and pay to have his land plowed for planting corn. This loan will be a great help since he will be able to plant corn and buy all the supplies and compost needed to obtain a good result. He says that he also wants to diversify his production this year by planting chile peppers.
