A loan of $550 helped to buy chairs and beauty supplies and also to paint her salon.

Yenny's story

Yenny, 45, has a barber shop in the city of Cartagena where she lives with her family. She started the business 20 years ago because she’s always liked everything to do with beauty and hair styling. The main services she offers are related to improving personal and professional image according to each customer’s profile. She does daily haircuts, hair coloring, manicures and pedicures for women, men and children who are her main clientele. She works every day from 8 in the morning until 8 at night although there are days when her work schedule is even longer until she takes care of every last customer who comes by for service in her salon.

She’s currently requesting a Kiva loan, her first financing with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to buy chairs, beauty supplies to sell to her customers after consulting with them and she will have the salon painted. Her Kiva loan guarantees the success of her project which is to increase income and have many more customers because she’s making the investment at the end of the year which is when sales increase in her market and there is more cash in circulation.
