A loan of $625 helped to buy clothes, cosmetics and perfumery in general.

Kelly Johana's story

Kelly, 31, is a clothes merchant specializing in women’s, men’s and children’s sportswear; she sells by means of specialized catalogues that she uses to promote her wares. She sells both for cash and on credit to her customers who are both stores and individuals. She supports her home composed of her spouse and 12-year-old daughter, who she hopes to see become a successful professional, with her business. Kelly has 15 years’ experience in her business and her husband started her out in this activity which he knows very well; she’s a very enthusiastic person.

Her main products are shorts, skirts, blouses and other items in her catalogues like cosmetics, perfumery, kitchen items, etc. Her main challenge at present is working capital because it’s insufficient to meet end-of-year demand, a season when everyone wants to be well-dressed to spend the holidays with their families. There is also much ready cash on-hand due to employee bonuses and gifts.

This is why she’s calling on a Kiva loan, her first financing with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to buy outerwear and underwear, cosmetics and perfumery in general as well as women’s accessories. Her goal for later on is to specialize in clothes and to have a store to display it; undoubtedly she’ll succeed in doing so with her work.
