Raul's story

Don Raúl is 62 years old, married, and lives with his wife and daughter in a neighborhood in the town of San Marcos, Santa Barbara. His entire life has been devoted to farming activities. Raúl worked a long time as a laborer for a sugar company and then decided to establish his own business after he lost his job. A year ago, he began selling everyday consumer products such as salt, soap, rice, beans, corn, eggs, shortening, sugar, fried dough, juices, and soft drinks. He continues to grow corn and beans while his wife manages the convenience store.

With this loan of 6,000 HNL that he is requesting from ODEF, Raúl wants to grow his business by restocking it with more products. He plans to buy basic grains, salt, coffee, soap, detergent, eggs, shortening, sugar, soft drinks, snacks, condiments, medicines, and other products. His goal is to build an adjoining room to his house so that he can relocate his business, which is currently set up in his living room. This will enable him to provide better service to his customers.
