A loan of $775 helped to stock more materials for making clothes both new and second-hand.

Christine's story

Christine is 39 years old and lives in the town of Mubende in the Mubende region of Uganda. She is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past three years, Christine has been working hard to manage her tailoring business, which does tailoring and sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more materials for making clothes both new and second-hand, and will help Christine to generate greater profits and pay for school for her children. Christine hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a piece of land and build.

Christine is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Christine who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
