Matu's story

Matu lives in New Kru Town. She is 29 years old, married, and has three children between the ages of 6 and 14. They are in school and live at home. Matu stopped her education in the twelfth grade. She has other skills, such as business management. For the past four years, she has been running a shop where she sells lappa (traditional clothing). She started this business with a little funding from her husband, having learned this business from her mother. She says that she enjoys her business, because its has given her pride, and because she ready enjoys the interactions with her customers. She faces a problem when other people ask her for help to improve their lives, especially if she doesn't have the means to meet their requests. She is requesting a loan to purchase more lappa to expand her business. Her future plan is to expand her business and become an international investor.
