A loan of $525 helped to buy raw materials to make chalkboards/whiteboards, such as wood, glue, acrylic paint, nails and other supplies.

Fernando Jose's story

Fernando, 71 is married and has 3 children. He lives in a suburban neighborhood of San Pedro Sula. Fernando used to sell books, but 12 years ago he decided to start his own business making writing boards of all types and sizes for use with chalk and markers. He sells his products in the market in his city and to companies and traders, and he also sells them by the dozen and by advance order.

Fernando has been a client of ODEF for a number of loan cycles, and he has been investing in his business. He is currently requesting another loan for 10,000 Honduran lempiras, so that he can buy supplies such as wood, sheets of acrylic, hardboard and glue. With this investment he is going to expand his business, hoping to increase his sales and his income. His goal is to buy a vehicle that he could use to go out and sell his products.
