A loan of $1,175 helped to buy two pedigree bulls.

Emerita's story

Emerita, age 46, is a hardworking woman. She has lived with her husband Raúl for 26 years and they have four children. Two of them, Anderson and Jefferson, still live with them in their own home in the town of Paccha. Emerita has spent her entire life around farming and ranching, and now she makes her living in this manner. When she and her husband started their family, they decided to intensify their farming activity by planting mostly potatoes and beans in great quantity. Their cattle graze on different plots of land that she and her husband inherited. Farming is an activity she enjoys very much because it always keeps her in touch with the earth and with nature, which gives her great peace. Being hardworking woman, Emerita spends every morning letting her animals (bulls, cows, and sheep) out to pasture so that they can graze. She would like to start producing cheese, but she does not have very many dairy cows. However, she is able to plow her farmland with her existing bulls. “This keeps me from having to pay other people to prepare the land,” says Emerita. She will buy more sheep very soon, with the help of her husband who works at a mine.

Emerita is a member of the solidarity group “Productoras Agrícolas Las Emprendedoras”. This is her eighth loan with MFP and she is grateful for the financial support that has been provided to her in a constant manner. She now has the means to improve her business and promises to be punctual with her payments, thus demonstrating that she will be responsible. Emerita will invest the money she requested in the purchase of two pedigree bulls so that she can increase her herd of cattle.
