A loan of $1,175 helped to buy more traditional clothes and saucepans for her business expansion.

Lillian's story

Lillian is 34 years old and lives in the town of Arua Hill in the Arua region of Uganda. She is married and has six children with two of them currently in school. For the past two years, Lillian has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells traditional clothing and saucepans.

To help expand her business, Lillian has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more traditional clothes and saucepans for her business expansion. It will help Lillian to generate greater profits and educate her children.

Lillian hopes that in the future she will be able to own another business.

Lillian is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Lillian who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
