A loan of $350 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Mom's Group's story

Mom lives in a rural village of the Sampov Meas district of Pursat province, Cambodia. She is 42 years old and married with two children, one of whom is still in school in the local area. To support the family, Mom has been working as a rice farmer on a three-hectare farm for more than twenty years while her husband plants sugarcane. The current business earns them about 14,000 KHR per day to make a living and afford to save 4,000 KHR each day after expenses. Low crop yield has still been a challenge for her business. This is Mom’s group loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She and her group are members of VisionFund. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan. Mom will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to make more healthy rice to increase her family’s income and make a better living.
