A loan of $800 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Ren's Group's story

Living in a rural area located in the Kror Kor district of Cambodia, Ren is 41 years old and married. She has four children, two of whom are dependents and still in school. To make a living and take care of her children, she is a grocery seller, while her husband farms rice. They have been in these businesses for ten years. From the current businesses, she and her husband can earn about 20,000 KHR per day, and manage to save about 10,000 KHR each day after paying for living expenses. The main challenge for her rice business is drought.

This is the first microloan for Ren’s group with VisionFund. Ren is leading the group of five members to apply for a loan. As the group leader, she is going to use her portion of the loan to buy fertilizers for her farmland. Ren hopes this loan will enable her and her husband to grow rice healthily and timely, so as to sell it for a good price and fulfill her dream to expand the current businesses.
