Choen is a 62-year-old resident from the Kror Kor district of Pursat province. She is married and has seven children. She farms rice and sells grocery items in the local area. Additionally, her husband makes palm juice for extra income. She and her husband have been in these businesses for 37 years, and are able to earn about 11,000 KHR per day.
This is the first loan for Choen with VisionFund. She is applying for a loan of 1,000,000 KHR. With this loan, she is going to buy materials for making palm juice, such as large pans and bamboo containers. She hopes this loan will enable them to earn more income from the palm juice business, so as to improve their living conditions.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
