A loan of $2,050 helped a member to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her farmland.

Rina's Group's story

A citizen from a rural village of Battambang province’s Moung Russey district, Rina is aged 25 years and married. She has one dependent son to take care of. To feed her family, she has worked hard as a rice farmer for five years and sometimes her husband works for others for a fee to better feed their family. The current business earns her about 18,000 KHR per day and she manage to save about 10,000 KHR each day after daily expenses. Rina’s group consists of seven members who live in the same village and she has been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for two cycles. Rina completely paid back the past loans, which have relieved her family’s financial burden. Now she is leading her group to request another loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her farmland and use a portion of it for gasoline. Rina hopes to make healthy rice to increase her family’s income so as to make a better living.
