Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,500 helped to purchase more goods for her business.

Florence T.'s story

Florence has been running a shop where she sells many items, such as rice, oil, butter, and batteries, in the area of Buchanan where she lives with her three children and husband. Her husband is a taxi driver. She says she is very happy about her business for many reasons: it supports her family and relatives. She was able to buy a piece of land to build her house, send her children to school, and bought a spot to build another shop on in the near future. She started this business in 2000 by selling cassava by the bag, with her husband. She has requested 110,000 LRD to purchase more goods for her business. She is a high school graduate, 30 years old, and her dream is to see herself as an international businesswoman and educate her children.
