A loan of $5,750 helped a member to buy more food shop stock and start building her house.


Monrovia Group's story

Asma, who is in her mid-30s, is married and living together with her husband and one child who goes to school. Asma has been running a food shop for 3 years now. She works from 7am to 9pm daily and she is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her 9th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. Asma used the previous loans to buy a plot of land which she expects to have a house in the future, bought a sofa set, covered household expenses, increased the food shop inventory, bought a sack of charcoal and she has paid back all her loans successfully. She requests a new loan which she wants to use to buy more food shop stock and start building her own house. Her dream is to one day be able to finish building her house.

Asma will share this loan with her loan group " Monrovia" which totals 19 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
