A loan of $1,575 helped a member to buy three local piglets to be a pig roll.

Taman Sari Group's story

The Taman Sari Group is located in the village of Pejarakan, North Bali. This area receives very little rainfall, so for this dry season a lot of the farmers' produce was not optimal. Seeing this situation, the Taman Sari group, which consisted of 10 women, took the initiative to develop pigs in an effort to support the family economy.

Luh Eka, the head of the group, has two children. After successfully selling previous piglets, she now requests a loan to buy three local piglets to become a pig barbeque. Pigs are maintained for two months and then are ready for sale. The profits will be used to buy another pig, so after sixth months she will be able to start repayments on the loan. She hopes these efforts will help her husband's income from working as a farmer.
