Nelly Narcisa's story

Every fifteen days in the Tierras Amarillas village, located in the canton Rocafuerte, the members of the Communal Bank "Mejorando El Futuro" (Improving the Future) meet. This sector is known for its agriculture, and a large amount of its inhabitants dedicate themselves to the short-cycle crops.

This is where Nelly lives. She is 49 years old and married with eight children, six of whom are already adults and two who are 15 and 13. Four of her children live with her. One of the older ones studies in the university, and the others are still in school. Her husband dedicates himself to agriculture.

Nelly works in society with one of her sons. The dedicate themselves to selling milk and cheese. Her son moves around the fields in a car they have, and they buy milk that certain farmers sell every morning to later bring to their house and make into delicious cheese or sell to neighboring villages along with the cheese they made the day before. They work every day in the morning and have spent 10 years performing this work, which has brings them a good income.

This loan will be used to buy milk. She has been in the Communal Bank from the beginning. She is the treasurer of the group and likes it because her friends are very united and responsible.
