Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Al-Zhra Group's story

This group called Al-Zhra consists of three women. They are from Hodiedh, Yemen. All of their projects are home-based; however, they have many clients, mostly women. All the group members are considered hardworking people who very much want to get ahead.

This group took a loan of 120,000 YER (Yemen rials). Aisha is 57 years old, married and has 10 children. She lives in Hodiedh, Yemen. She’s affectionately a part of this group, and she says that she’s very happy because her business has improved little by little.

She is a seamstress. She started the business when her husband stopped working because she wanted to help her family with their children’s expenses and to have her own capital to cover any unexpected costs. She loves her work and aspires to continue to get more profit. For this reason, she’s asking for a loan of 50,000 YER from AMB to buy fabrics for sewing and sewing materials for her business.

In this group: Aisha, Sabah, Khamis
