Editha is an active micro-finance member of PMPC. She is 47 years old and married with one adult-age child and two school-age children. Her primary business is making and selling snacks and has operated this business for 3 years earning PHP 2,000 per month. She has decided to engage in another line of business: scrap buying and selling to generate additional income for the household.
She has taken a loan from PMPC to purchase scrap materials. She is planning to use the profit to provide better education for her children and to invest additional capital for the business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
