A loan of $375 helped a member to buy pesticides and fertilizers for her farmland.

Mena's Group's story

Living in a rural area located in the Moung Russey district where crop farming is a common way to make a living, Mena, 25, is a married mother of two children who are too young for school. The sources of her family’s income are from rice farming on a six-hectare area of farmland. Mena and her husband have been in this business for several years. The main challenge for her family’s business is lack of working capital to better support her farmland. Mena’s group consists of two members who are just with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, this cycle. She is leading her group to apply for a loan. Mena will use her portion to buy pesticides and fertilizers for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to increase her crop yields so as to earn more income to improve her family’s lifestyle.
