A loan of $200 helped to renovate her garage.

Karen Astrid's story

Karen, 26, lives in the city of Cañete in the Imperial District with her husband and two small children, who she loves and who are her main motivation in life. She is a kind, hard-working, enthusiastic person who makes every effort, alongside her husband, to provide for the family. Unfortunately, Karen was unable to get any professional training because she has had to work to help her parents. In her free time she enjoys spending time with the family. With much dedication and hard work, Karen has been renting garage services for four years. She has a small building that she rents to small business owners so they can park their traveling food stalls, carts and other vehicles. She also sells sweets and pancakes at her location. Every day she starts work early in the morning. She believes business is doing so well because she is kind to her customers. Karen is very grateful to Kiva lenders, because thanks to them she can renovate her garage which is in need of paint and a new door. Karen hopes to be able to increase her presence and attract more customers this way, allowing her to keep working and make every effort to continue her education. This will allow her to get a better job, so she can giver her children a good education and quality of life.
