Mahukpego 10 is a group of three individuals living in the same neighborhood in Benin. The group’s representative, Machoucoura (the one raising her hand in the photo) is 40 years old. Her husband’s name is Sikirou. They have four children, some of whom are in school. Machoucoura and her husband live together with their children and jointly provide for various household needs. Machoucoura never attended school. For about 20 years, Machoucoura has been selling various products (coolers, dishes and plastic items) as a street vendor. She is dedicated to this work, which allows her to provide for herself and her children. Machoucoura stocks up in a town of Benin. With the goal of meeting customer demand, Machoucoura, along with the other members of her group, is seeking her sixth loan. This loan will allow group members to better meet demand and increase their profits. The prior loans have been duly repaid.
MAHUKPEGO 10 est un groupe de trois personnes, dont les membres résident dans le même quartier au Bénin. La représentante du groupe, Machoucoura (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 40 ans et est mariée à un certain Sikirou. Le couple a quatre enfants dont certains scolarisés. Machoucoura et son mari vivent ensemble avec leurs enfants et assurent ensemble les différentes charges de la maison. Machoucoura n’a pas fréquenté l’école. Il y a vingt ans environs que, Machoucoura mène comme activité la vente de divers produits (glacières, assiettes et plastiques) de façon ambulante. Machoucoura exerce cette activité passionnément, ce qui lui permet de subvenir à ses besoins et à ceux de ses enfants. Machoucoura s’approvisionne dans une ville du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle, Machoucoura sollicite un sixième crédit avec les autres membres du groupe MAHUKPEGO 10. Ce crédit leur servira à mieux répondre aux demandes de leur clientèle et à se faire plus de profits. Les crédits précédents ont été bien remboursés.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
