Lui Marie's story

This is Lui, 41, a resident of Cabrera, Philippines. He is married to Rina, his business partner, and is a father to his children. He, together with his wife, manages their household while operating the business. At this time, he is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.

Lui operates a school/office supplies business. It is where one can buy school supplies like pens, bond paper, cartolina (a kind of paper), and the like, without going to a bookstore. He gets the supplies at wholesale prices and sells them by the piece. His store is located adjacent to his house. His regular customers are his neighbors and the local community. He earns a minimum of Php 500 in sales every day.

To help him continue operations of his business, he is requesting a Php 50,000 loan. He will be utilizing the loan to buy school supplies to expand his product inventory. He expects a boost in his business income as he expands his business.

Lui dreams of having a vehicle that he will use in his business, through all his hard work on his business. He faithfully meets up with his co-fellowship* members to share stories of his work every week and to also draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God he studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay microfinance loans.
