Borrower Lucía only completed elementary school. She’s married and lives in the community of Colchani. She has school age children. Her house and her fields are in the same community of Colchani which is in Patacamaya. She grows potatoes, carrots, lima beans and other products and production has been improving. She sells in the city of La Paz and in Patacamaya.

What happened to her was that during a trip she made to sell her products with her little girl, she became ill and they couldn’t determine either the origin or the cause of her illness. Her husband had to sell some of the cattle and products to cure his wife’s illness and because they have limited economic resources the loan is to buy improved cattle so that more milk will be produced to sell thus earning higher profits to get ahead with the family having gone through very difficult times thinking she might leave her children orphaned.
