A loan of $325 helped to buy rice and sugar for her grocery shop.

Celia's story

Celia, who is 48, is a simple woman. She lives with her husband, Pedro, and their three dependant children in a house she inherited from her parents twenty years ago. She has 23 years of experience in sales. Celia now provides the main source of income. She has installed a small restaurant on the premises of her store where she receives help from her husband and two of her children. She has all the staples in her store, from candy to groceries. She used to sell from a stall and now operates out of her home, which is more convenient for developing her business. Her husband and children also contribute significantly in running the business, which is familiar to them and a great opportunity. The business is located in the vicinity of a transport line whose drivers are all potential clients. She also sells meat in her store and products that are likely to be most profitable. She would like to sell more and expand her store's offerings.

This is Celia's 22nd loan with Kiva partner Microfinanzas Prismas. She has a good understanding of group credit. Although there have been many difficulties along the way, these difficulties have fortified her confidence in her member association "Señor de Reley." The members have renewed their commitment to continue paying their dues on time.

Celia will invest the money in the purchase of sacks of rice and sugar for her grocery shop.
