A loan of $800 helped to buy materials for her upholstery workshop.

Rafaela's story

With a loan of 31,500 pesos [DOP] Rafael has been able to buy fabric, cushions, foam, zippers, thread, and other accessories for her upholstery workshop. In addition, she's going to buy a piece of furniture and a used mattress, which she'll repair and sell.

Rafaela opened her shop two years ago, looking for a way to help her husband with the household expenses because she had been unemployed for a while and hadn't managed to find another job. He's a messenger in an art supply store. Together they have three children, ages 19, 18, and 14.

Rafaela wants to have more income to better equip her workshop and to be able to send her children to the university.
