MAHUKPEHU est un groupe de trois personnes, dont les membres résident dans le même quartier au Bénin. La représentante du groupe, Marie (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 49 ans. Marie est mariée à un certain Émile et a six enfants, tous scolarisés et à leur charge. Marie vit ensemble avec son mari et ses enfants. Le couple assure ensemble les diverses charges de la maison. Marie n'a pas fréquenté l'école. Pour faire face à ses différentes charges, Marie vend depuis une dizaine d’année, des mèches et des vêtements à son domicile. De façon secondaire, Marie vend des cartes de recharge téléphonique. Marie s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et en vue d’augmenter son fonds de roulement et de renforcer son activité, Marie sollicite un quatrième crédit auprès de ALIDé, ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe MAHUKPEHU. Ce crédit leur servira à mieux répondre aux demandes de leur clientèle et à se faire plus de profits.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
