A loan of $1,725 helped to buy fabric and other supplies for her sewing workshop.

Ercida's story

With a 67, 275 Peso loan, Ercida has been able to buy fabric, zippers, thread, decorations and other supplies for her workshop where she makes bedspreads, curtains and does light upholstery. Ercida has enjoyed interior decoration her entire life and her girlfriends would always seek her out for advice on what colors to use or what material to get for their curtains. Noting her talent, her husband suggested she take a course in decorations making. It’s now been 11 years since she opened her workshop and in time she’s acquired a regular clientele who always require her services in addition to those who come referred by someone who is satisfied with the work and service she’s given them.

Ercida is married and her husband works in a law office. They have four adult children, the oldest is 25 and the youngest is 19. The three oldest work and the youngest is finishing secondary school. Thanks to her workshop, Ercida is able to help her husband with household expenses and together they were able to support their children so that they could complete secondary school. Ercida’s wish is that customers will continue coming so that she can finish building her house and have a more comfortable place to live in.
