Sola's story

Sola is a 57-year-old married woman with three children. She is an IDP (internally displaced person) and lives in Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. Sola breeds cattle and cows and has done so for the last 15 years. She decided to engage to this business because her husband had been cattle-breeding from youth and her pension was approaching.

Sola usually buys small calves, raises and fattens them for 5-6 months and then resells for more profitable price in the livestock bazaar. Her monthly income is 150 AZN and this business is only one source of financial income in her family. Meat is in very high demand in Azerbaijan and people use it in everyday dishes like pilau and dolma. Sola also keeps milk cows for personal use and for selling to neighbors.

She wants to expand her business and improve the living conditions of her family. She applied for 1600 AZN loan in order to purchase three head of cattle, one milk cow and fodder. This will be her third loan and she has a good credit history.
