A loan of $350 helped to buy toys to sell.

Lida Hortencia's story

Lida is undertaking her second loan with the "Mujeres con Visión" communal bank. She lives in the 9 de Octubre area of Cuenca, a city with a cold climate, and thanks to its architectural beauty, a World Heritage Site since December 1999. It has several places for enjoying nature, and its people are friendly, kind, and still maintain the culture and traditions of their people. Lida is 24 years old, in a common-law relationship, and has a five-year-old child. Her husband works at a stucco shop, installing ceilings. They do not have their own house, so they rent. She works hard Monday to Friday as a domestic, and does not have fixed hours of work. She is going to use her new loan to buy toys in order to start this business, since the Christmas season is approaching. Her dream is to have her own house.
