A loan of $550 helped to buy groceries to sell.

Antonia Soraya's story

Antonia is undertaking her second loan with the "Mujeres con Visión" communal bank. She lives in the Totoracocha area of Cuenca, a city with a cold climate, and thanks to its architectural beauty, a World Heritage Site since December 1999. It has several places for enjoying nature, and its people are friendly, kind, and still maintain the culture and traditions of their people.

Antonia is 41 years old, married, and has five children ages 20, 16, 14, 10, and her youngest child who is barely 3 months old. Two of her children work, help with the household chores and study. One goes to school, and another goes to a local preschool. Her husband works as a employee in a private company. They do not have their own home, so they rent.

Antonia is from the province of De Los Rios and came to the city of Cuenca 13 years ago. She has had a business selling food for four years, and works Monday to Saturdays from 8:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon. In her free time she works selling Yanbal brand cosmetics.

She is going to use her new loan to purchase groceries for continuing with her business.

Her goal is to improve her business and provide her children with a better quality of life.
