A loan of $800 helped a member to buy fertilizer and gasoline.

Nom's Group's story

Nom is 29 years old, married, and has two children. She is one of the breadwinners for her family; they live in the Moung Russey district, Cambodia. She strives for a living via her rice cultivation on four hectares of farmland. Besides helping in the field, her husband helps her by earning additional income, working for others for a fee. She is able to earn about 20,000 KHR per day from the rice business, which she has been engaged in for seven years. For her, shortage of water is the main challenge for her business, and it lowers her income.

Nom, in the group of three, is in her fourth loan cycle. She has successfully used her past loans in a wise manner, upgrading her living conditions and maintaining her business. Now, she is applying for 1,200,000 KHR, while the other two group members are applying for 1,000,000 KHR, each. Nom, who is the group's leader, will use her portion of the loan to purchase fertilizer, and gasoline to run water pumps for her rice field. She hopes to double her rice yield, and multiply her income.
