A loan of $750 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farm.

Huon's Group's story

A resident of a rural area in the Bakan district of Pursat Province, Cambodia, Houn is a 51- year-old widow. She has eight children, one of whom is dependent on her and currently in school. To support her family, she grows rice and sells groceries, earning approximately 12,000 KHR per day. Houn is a second-time borrower with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. The first loan that she requested has helped her relieve her family’s burdens and improve her family's quality of life. Now she is in need of money to buy fertilizer to improve her farmland and increase her working capital. Therefore, she is leading a group of three female members to apply for a loan of 1,000,000 KHR each. With the help of her portion of this loan, Houn believes that she will be able to boost her income even higher.
