Eak's Group's story

A mother of two schoolchildren and four paid workers, Eak is 50 years old and a rural villager from Thmor Koul district of Battambang Province,Cambodia. For her family's sake, she and her husband grow rice on their one hectare plot. Eak has been in this business for 30 years. Eak is the leader of a group of two and she is in her fourth cycle of loans while her fellow group member is in the twelfth loan cycle. After the most recent loan which has been completely paid back, she feel very satisfied and empowered. It has provided her a decent income for a proper daily food. Now, she and her additional group member are applying for a loan in the amount of 1,000,000 KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer, insecticide for her crop, and use a portion of it to cover her children's education. She hopes to earn more income from her current business so she can continue to keep her standard of living better than before.
