Luz's story

Luz is 42 years old. She is a woman whose family consists of her husband and their 4 children, ages 2 to 24. With her husband, she had the idea to offer a rental service for washing machines, with the goal of generating sufficient income to support their household. Her business consists of renting these machines by the hour to everyone in the neighborhood, and it requires her daily attention, according to her household schedule. Luz's husband is the one who transports the machines by motorcycle to the houses of those who rent them and returns with them according to the agreement. Her customers are very trustworthy and are from various neighboring areas. Luz also generates income through the craft of making pastry and decorating cakes. She makes the most delicious tortes, cakes, and puddings, and creates every type of edible figure in sugar, because she knows cake decorating technique perfectly, and she does this all year long. Customers order products of this type for family celebrations such as first communions, weddings, baptisms, etc. Luz is a vibrant person, and she likes to perfect her art, and so she takes care to perfect her art through training and through magazines, with the goal of knowing the latest techniques of decoration and pastry-making. Now she is getting ready for the end of the year, and the orders for desserts, puddings, and cakes are greater. For this reason, she has turned to a Kiva loan, with which she will buy ingredients such as sugar, flours, coloring for margarine, etc., and she will also apply part of the money to maintain and repair some of her machines, so that they continue functioning as when they were new.
