A loan of $400 helped to buy bags of fertilizer.

Enrique's story

Enrique is 46 years old and is married to Maria with whom he has 6 children. They all live together in a house they built in an indigenous community in the central jungle.

Enrique is a responsible man. He has been working the land since he was 16 years old and so now he is an excellent farmer. He grows fruit such as, star fruit, bananas, oranges and lemons in the plots of land given to him by the community. He says, "These fruits are profitable because they can be harvested many times a year, especially bananas as they can be harvested every 15 days."

Enrique likes his job because it gives him great satisfaction. One of the best moments was when he increased production by buying more land. One of the difficulties that Enrique faces is lack of money. Now he needs to sustain and clear his crops and in order to do so he is requesting a loan.

This will be his seventh loan through MFP. He is grateful for all the help provided on previous occasions. For his part, he promises to pay the monthly installments on time. He belongs to the communal bank "Nuevo Amanecer de la Aldea" [New Sunrise of the Village] where he is the president. With the money he will be able to buy bags of fertilizer for his fruit crops.
