Lambayeque, Peru / Animal Sales

A loan of $600 helped to buy more animals to raise and buy materials for growing soy.

Esperanza's story

Esperanza, age 48, is single and lives in Lambayeque, an area with a decent amount of commercial activity. It's part of the province of the same name and is located twenty minutes north of the city of Chiclayo. Esperanza raises and sells livestock. She raises chickens and ducks and other small animals in her backyard and when they've grown to a big enough size she sells them to the buyers who come through her area frequently. This provides her with a stable source of income, though she also grows and sells soy beans.

Esperanza hopes to buy more animals to raise and buy materials for growing soy. This will allow her to serve more customers in both lines of business. She believes a loan of 1,500 nuevos soles (PEN) from Edpyme Alternativa [Kiva field partner] is a good way to help her achieve her objectives.
