Bertha's story

Bertha, 39, lives with Fernando with whom she has two children aged 15 and 18 years old. They all live in their own house located in an indigenous community. Bertha is a woman who works hard in all her endeavors, her main job is selling basic goods such as rice, sugar, tinned products and other foodstuffs. She has been carrying out this activity for approximately 7 years and she says that it is going well, provided that it is well-stocked and she buys more provisions such as meat and vegetables. Bertha says, "People buy more meat and vegetables every day. You can earn a lot with those products." As she is a woman who doesn't conform, she also works in agriculture, producing cocoa. Her husband spends most of his time working in these activities.

Every month, she makes sales at her stall, and that is why this time she is seeking a loan to buy more merchandise. This is her third loan with Microfinanzas Prisma. Bertha is committed to meeting the monthly repayments punctually. She is part of the "Nuevo Amanecer de la Aldea" communal bank, and the work with the savings pleases her.

With the 1,000 Peruvian Nuevos Soles loan, Bertha will be able to buy more merchandise to stock her store with products such as fizzy drinks, beer, groceries and other foodstuffs.
