Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $675 helped to buy sodas, yoghurts, potato chips, etc.

Italia Cruz's story

Italia, 48, is married and has a son who goes to the public school in Guayaquil. She has a kiosk where she sells sodas, snacks and sweets. Italia's husband is a carpenter and when he runs out of work he helps out at the kiosk.

She works at the kiosk in the morning, Monday through Friday, because on weekends she works as a nurse. Her goal is to have a large grocery store. Italia plans to use the loan to buy sodas, yoghurts, potato chips, etc.
