A loan of $1,000 helped to buy supplies and hire help to sow potatoes on her field.

Aracely Del Carmen's story

Aracely is twenty-eight and a farmer. She is married and has a son. She comes from Los Brasiles, a village in the north of the province of Estelí. She learned her trade at a young age and follows in the footsteps of her parents and grandparents. Agriculture is now the main source of income of her family. Aracely grows potatotes, sweetcorn and broad beans. She asks for this loan in order to buy supplies and hire help to sow potatoes on an area of her field roughly the size of a city block. This will help her improve her farm, since her projects for the future include expanding her potato fields and saving money so that her children can go to school.
