Verelicia Anne is one of the five members of the group 'El Valle de Huaquillay' (the valley of Huaquillay). She was elected treasurer of the group by the others members. This is the second cycle of loans for this group, earned because they were very punctual and responsible in their repayments during the first cycle. Verelicia Anne is fifty-two years old, married, and has three sons. She has been selling natural products for two years, a business she started on a friend's recommendation when she needed to start helping her husband with household expenses. She also offers massage therapy. She will invest the loan towards buying natural products to increase her stock, since it is always easier to develop one's business when one has the products close at hand. She thanks Kiva lenders for their support, which will enable her to reach her goals and make her dreams come true, as well as to further the dreams of her fellow members.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
