A loan of $975 helped to buy bags of organic fertilizer for his crops.

Juan's story

Juan, 47, is married to Esperanza and together they have four children who are now 25, 23, 21, and 14. The couples live with their younger son in a rustic home located in an agricultural annex.

Juan has made his living in agriculture for 17 years. On his land, he sows potatoes, peas, beans, gladiolus flowers, and corn. As it is the most profitable product, he harvests potatoes twice a year and is able to sell them immediately. “This month I am growing peas, beans, and herbs such as oregano. Selling them is profitable,” Juan explains. He also uses animals that make his work quicker in the field, such as cows and bulls for plowing the field as well as donkeys and horses to move the cargo.

This month is important for him as he has planted seeds in several fields that require fertilizer. This is why he is asking for your help, to be able to continue with his plans. This is his third loan with MFP and so he is waiting for the help from the loan. He is committed to paying back the loan on the dates due. With regard to the communal bank “Cochayoc Centro”, he feels comfortable to have responsible fellow members. Juan will use the 2,500 PEN to buy organic fertilizers to use on his crop of peas and oregano.
