Phoeurn, 60 and a citizen from Battambang Province, is father of five children. He and his wife have struggled in order to raise his family by rice farming on three hectare of farmland. He has engaged in his business for 40 years. This is his first loan with VisionFund, Kiva's partner. He is now seeking 1,000USD in order to purchase a water pump, rice seed, and gasoline. He hopes that this purchase will provide a sufficient water supply for his rice business and give him back a high yield. By doing so, he can earn more income for his family's sake.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
