A loan of $500 helped a member to buy fertilizer and rice seed for her farm.

Leng's Group's story

Living in a rural village of the Kandal province’s Kandal Stoeng district, Leng is 38 years old, married, and has four children, two of whom are dependents and still in school. For the last 19 years, she has been growing rice to support her family, while her husband works as a construction worker in the local area to earn additional income. Together, they can earn about 22,000 KHR per day and can save about 10,000 KHR each day for their future needs. Leng’s group consists of two members who have been with VisonFund for four cycles. Leng has completely repaid her past loans, which have helped her lighten the burdens of her family and improve their livelihood. Now she and her fellow group member are applying for a loan of 1,000,000 KHR each. Leng, the group's leader, is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer and rice seed for her farm. She hopes this loan will enable her to succeed in producing more rice, so as to improve her family’s living conditions and keep her children in school.
