Marlene Yesenia's story

The members of the communal bank "Virgen de Monserrate" meet every two weeks in the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabí, known for many years as the "City of the Royal Tamarind Trees."

Señorita Marlene lives in this place. She is 34 years old. She is single and lives in the house of her parents. She studies preschool education at a university on Saturdays and Sundays.

She is a hard-working woman, since in addition to studying, she works from Monday to Friday in a city nursery school. In addition, she makes crafts, decorations, and party favors of different themes, products that she provides and makes based on orders from her customers and from a government organization. She makes these products from Fomix foam paper, fabric, sponges, and other materials which give her a nice finished product. For this reason, her work sells very well. She has been doing this for more than six years, and with it she has helped her parents and her three younger siblings with their schooling.

She is going to use this loan to buy sponges, paints, glitter, Fomix foam paper, and other materials needed to make her products. She is one of the founders of the communal bank and she likes the bank for the help that they offer through the loans.

Her dream is to obtain her bachelor's degree.
