A loan of $1,750 helped a member to pay school fees for his children.

Mohamed's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from Koidu, a city in Eastern Sierra Leone. Teachers from this institution, like their counterparts in other SMT operational areas, come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for loans. With the help of these loans, they can buy or invest in things that their mere salaries do not let them buy or invest in. And at the end of each month, they repay SMT/Kiva lenders, using their monthly salaries. Their school’s bursar is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

The leader of this group of teachers is Tamba. Tamba is a 50 year old and a native of the Soa chiefdom. He is married and has five children who are attending school. Tamba has been a teacher for 28 years now. He has requested this loan in order to pay school fees for his children.

In this group: Mohamed , Aiah Stephen, Tamba N. , Sahr Tommy, Cecilia , Kumba Lilian , Komba Denis
