A loan of $5,450 helped a member to buy one ton of sugar cane.

Lumiere Group's story

Florida, age 35, is an entrepreneur and married mother of seven children who all go to school. Her husband is a farmer. Florida sells sugar cane. She started her business with a basic loan from the Hekima MFI, and this is her 12th loan cycle. She conducts her sales from her home, wholesale and retail. This new loan will help her to buy one ton of sugar cane from the Rutshuru region. Her main challenge is the lack of political stability in the Rutshuru territory, which is under occupation by M23 rebels and other subversive elements. She plans to buy a plot of land for her family and to help her children finish their studies. Florida wishes to thank the Hekima MFI for helping impoverished women who do not have access to traditional banking channels.
